Sensorisation of coastal waters

One of the challenges is the development of risk prediction systems to protect the fishery resources of the Andalusian coastline.

The Smartfood project creates a network of coastal sensors in Andalusian marine waters to observe and monitor physical parameters in the marine environment and, as a consequence, protect the fishery resources of the Andalusian coast. All the data obtained by these sensors will be available to the scientific community and society at large to provide detailed and accurate information in real-time.

Such data are regularly included in the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODNET), where engineers and scientists can see which of these data are available for a particular area. This makes it possible to anticipate possible developments and make decisions aimed at productivity and the protection of marine biodiversity..

The main objective of the monitoring and analysis of coastal zones carried out by the Smartfood project focuses on measuring the environmental impact on biological communities for sustainable management of offshore activities and the growth of the blue economy
